Dear All ;

Following my talks about above-mentioned issue with some of the members of the community , I would like to summarize my opinion as follows:

AA-         We, the Iranian community has been very successful over the last 34 years in important aspects of our social life (Business, Education and Research) in our new country.

BB-         We have however not been successful in having the role we deserve in government administration and politics across all levels including as School Board Trustees, City Councillors (Municipal), MPPs (Provincial) or MPs (Federal).

CC-         Our community has sufficient potential and deserves to have voice in such positions.

DD-         The next Federal election is very important and a great opportunity for our community to send our representative to Ottawa.

EE-         Those members of our community who have been either directly or indirectly involved in political activities of Canada have a responsibility to share their experiences, knowledge, volunteer work and financial capability to those who are willing to run (in my opinion it does not matter from which party) and let this coming election be a successful page in our community’s history in Canada.

FF-         To optimize the community’s capacities in all aspects of such a big challenge we need to talk among ourselves and do brainstorming to not waste our community’s limited capabilities and resources. Our past experiences should be raised and discussed so we can identify mistakes, weak points and reasons for not having been successful in the past.

GG-         Such an educated move could happen if all parties involved - those who are willing to run, those who have experience in such campaigns, those who are concerned about our community’s success, those who understand that we need to have our community’s voice in Ottawa - to get together and prove that we are now sufficiently mature as a community after so many years of living in a democratic country and that we have learned the rules of the game on how to be a successful community with a reasonable voice in the administration and politics of our new country Canada.

My suggestion is that all individuals willing to run in the coming federal election either as Liberal, Conservative, NDP or Green come together while inviting community and media members. Such a gathering can educate both candidates and community members. Hopefully this will make them ready for a close cooperation and constructive collaboration to achieve successful results.
